Girl On Fire

She took a look around her, knew she needed to change. She was tired of being tired. Tired of being afraid.

She put one foot into the flame, then the next, allowing who she was to burn away.

She refused to stay meek. She chose to be bold.

She refused to be invisible. She chose to be seen.

She refused to stay silent. She chose to speak out.

She refused to stay friends with doubt and fear. She chose to kick them to the curb.

She refused to wear the mask, it was always too tight. She chose to remove it, then found her tribe.

Into the fire, a girl fell inside, releasing the pain and fear consuming her alive.

Out of the flames a Phoenix she became. Brave and bold, no longer asleep, she was fully awake.

She had no choices until she did.

She had no voice till she chose to speak.

She was new, yet still the same. Same smile, same face, same hair. Her eyes however, were different, brand new. No longer lifeless they reflected a flame, one burning brightly in a torch called hope.

A girl on fire now reborn, she walked into her new life, not knowing what the future held, ready to take it on.
